  • Copyright infringement (commercial)

    §63

    Imprisonment 6 months – 3 years + fine ₹50,000 – ₹2 lakh.

  • Second / subsequent infringement

    §63A

    Imprisonment 1 – 3 years + fine ₹1 lakh – ₹2 lakh.

  • Use of infringing copy of computer programme

    §63B

    Imprisonment 7 days – 3 years + fine ₹50,000 – ₹2 lakh.

  • Circumvention of technological measures (DRM)

    §65A

    Imprisonment up to 2 years + fine.

  • Removal / alteration of rights-management information

    §65B

    Imprisonment up to 2 years + fine.
