What happens if you break it
Manufacture / sale / import of adulterated or spurious goods
§90, §91If injury: imprisonment up to 7 years + fine up to ₹5 lakh; if death: imprisonment 7 years to life + fine ≥ ₹10 lakh.
Misleading advertisement (manufacturer / endorser)
§89Imprisonment up to 2 years + fine up to ₹10 lakh; repeat — up to 5 years + ₹50 lakh.
Non-compliance with order of Consumer Commission
§72Imprisonment 1 month – 3 years and/or fine ₹25,000 – ₹1 lakh.
Product liability (defective product causing harm)
§82–87Compensation by the product manufacturer / seller / service provider — strict liability.
